Welcome to ComLaw (Commonwealth Law)
ComLaw is an integral part of the Australian Law Online initiative to bring low- or no-cost access to the law for the community and is maintained by the Australian Attorney-General's Department.
Comlaw incorporates the Federal Register of Legislative Instruments (FRLI) which was established under section 20 of the Legislative Instruments Act 2003 (the LIA).
We're working on making the ComLaw/FRLI website better. Want to know more about what we are doing and when you will see results. Read on . . .
The ComLaw/FRLI website will be unavailable on Thursday 10 July 2008 between 18:30 and 19:00 due to maintenance.

The LIA is currently under review, and an issues paper has just been released for public comment. The paper asks questions on which you may have views, such as how effective has FRLI been? More...
Please Note
From 1 January 2005, most legislation and related material that was previously published on SCALEplus is now being published on ComLaw/FRLI instead. SCALEplus will continue to be available to users until historical material, and other material not currently accessible from ComLaw, has been migrated to ComLaw. Data still to be migrated includes:
- all historical databases,
- Statutory Rules that are not in force, and
- the legislation of the non-self-governing Territories.
